Chris Tomlin

Életrajz:

Christopher Dwayne "Chris" Tomlin néven született 1972 május 4-én a Texas államokbeli Grand Saline-ben, az Amerikai Egyesült Államokban. Amerika keresztény dalszövegíró és énekes. Híres, elismert számai közé tartozik például a "How Great Is Our God", "Jesus Messiah", "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)", és az "Our God". Jelenleg Passion City-nek, ami Church Atlanta-ban található, ott lelkipásztor Georgia, Louie Giglio-val és Christy Nockels-sel. 

Ő lett a "Male Vocalist of the Year" 2006-ban és  2007-ben (a Artist of the Year-rel együtt), és 2008-ban megnyerte a GMA Dove Awards-t, és a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album-t 2012-ben (Legjobb keresztény album). Az egyik alaptagja a CompassionArt-nak, a jótékonysági alapítvány-t Smith felesége, Anna alapította 

Tomlin 2013-s albuma, a Burning Lights az első helyen debutált a Billboard 200-s listáján, ezzel a 4. olyan album lett, ami ezt megtudta csinálni.

Kezdeti évek:

Tomlin a Texas államokbeli Grand Saline-ben született 1972-ben Connie és Donna Tomlin gyermekeként. Kettő öccse van, Ryan és Cory. Chris először gitáron tanult játszani Willie Nelson segítségével. Tomlin az első Istent dicsérő dalát mindössze 14 évesen írta meg. A főiskolán fizikoterápiát akart tanulni, de azt mondta, hogy Isten mást szánt neki. 

Az 1990-s években Tomlin lett a lelkipásztora a " Dawson McAllister Youth Conferences "-nek, valamint a különböző egyházi táboroknak Texasban. 

Tomlin elvégezte a Tyler Junior College-t és a Texas A&M University-t. 1997-ben egy fiatal hallgató, Louie Giglio megkérte, hogy legyen a vezetője pár konferenciának. Az ő munkássága innen kezdődik, ekkor indult el azon az úton, amin most van.

Tomlin 2010 november 9-én összeházasodott Lauren Bricken-nel. 2011 májusában bejelentették, hogy az első gyermeküket várják. Ashlyn Alexandra Tomlin  2011-ben született meg szeptember 22-én.

Karrier:

Az első nemzetközi szóló projektje 2001-ben jelent meg, a The Noise We Make az alábbi számokkal: Forever, Be Glorified és a Kidness. Mindegyik elérte a top 200-t a zenei toplistákban. Ő egy szóló énekes, mégis egy remek banda áll mögötte. Rengeteg számot írt velük. A banda tagjai: Daniel Carson (elektromos gitár, vokál), Jesse Reeves (basszus gitár, vokál), Travis Nunn (dobos), és Matt Gilder (zongora). Chris gitáron és zongorán játszik. A Christian Copyright Licensing International's lista szerint a top 25-ben 2007-es adatok szerint Tomlin 5 dala is szerepel: How Great is Our God (1.), Forever (5.), Holy is the Lord (7.), We Fall Down (12.) és az Indescriable (22.). 2008-ban már 6 dala szerepelt a Countdown Magazine Top 20-s listáján: We Fall Down (14), Forever (10), Holy is the Lord (8), Indescriable (6), Amazing Grace (3), How Great is Our God (1.)

Tomlin első turnéja Delirious? szintén keresztény dalokat rock formában éneklő bandával volt. Aztán egy saját turnéra indult, a Indescribable Tour -re. Matt Redman és Louie Giglio közreműködésével a See the Morning Tour. 2007 októberétől Tomlin Louie-val turnézott, és Matt Redmannal. (How Great is Our God tour). Egyre több országba hívták, és nem csak turnékra, hanem rengeteg előadásra.

2009-ben megjelent egy karácsonyi albuma (Christmas album), a Glory in the Highest, ami 3 eredeti dalt tartalmazott Matt Redmannal, Christy Nockels-sel és Audrey Assad-dal. Az album a 9. lett a Billboard 200-s listáján, a karácsonyi albumok között pedig az 1.
