Tim Curry

Timothy James Curry angol színész, énekes, szinkronszínész és zeneszerző 1946. április 19-én született Grappenhallban, Angliában.
Édesapja, James a királyi haditengerészet egyik papja volt, édesanyja, Patricia, iskolai titkárnő. Nővére, Judy koncertzongorista volt. A 2000-es évek elején hunyt el agytumorban.

A Lymm High Schoolba járt édesapja 1958-ban bekövetkezett haláláig, majd a család Dél-Londonba költözött, Tim azonban egy bentlakásos iskolába, a bathi Kingswood Schoolba került. Gyermekként tehetséges szopránénekes volt. Úgy döntött, hogy a színészetre fog koncentrálni, így a University of Birmingham-en végzett dráma és angol szakon.

Karrierje a televízióban kezdődött, ahol kisebb szerepeket kapott, (Sinking Fish Move Sideways, Ace of Wands, The Duchess of Malfi, Armchair Theatre) majd 1968-ban beválasztották a Hair című musicalbe, amelyben megkapta élete első jelentős szerepét. Ekkor találkozott Richard O'Brien-nel, aki megírta a The Rocky Horror Show forgatókönyvét, főszerepet szánva Timnek, amely meghozta a számára a világhírnevet.
Emellett a színházat sem hanyagolta el, többször fellépett a Broadway-n és alakítását a Travesties-ben a kritikusok nagyon dícsérték.

Énekesként sem elhanyagolható tehetség birtokosa, három albumot jelentetett meg: Read My Lips (1978) Fearless (1979) és Simplicity (1981). Saját szerzésű dalok mellett feldolgozásokat is készített és néhány évig turnézott is.

A nyolcvanas években egyszerre dolgozott a filmiparban és a televízióban is, és a dicséretek sem maradtak el. 1981-ben az Amadeus című Broadway show főszerepét alakította és megkapta élete első Tony-jelölését. Olyan színdarabokban lépett fel nagy sikerrel, mint a The Rivals (1983) The Threepenny Opera (1986), Dalliance (1986), vagy a Love For Love (1985). 1987 és 1988 között a Me and My Girl című darabbal turnézott a hazájában, majd egy évig New Yorkban játszott. A filmvásznon olyan alkotásokban láthatta őt a közönség, mint az Annie (1982), a The Ploughman's Lunch (1983), a Legend (1985) vagy a Clue (1985).

A kilencvenes években is megosztotta a karrierjét a mozifilmek, a televízió és a színház között. 1993-ben a My Favourite Year című musicalben bemutatott alakításáért ismét Tony-díjra jelölték.
A Clue után rátaláltak a vígjátékok, amelyekben megmutathatta a komikusi tehetségét: Oscar (1990), Home Alone 2 (1992) - ugyanakkor előszeretettel hívták kaland- és akciófilmekbe is, ahol leginkább a gonoszságát csillogtathatta meg: The Hunt for Red October (1990), The Three Musketeers (1993) The Shadow (1994). Emellett több filmben is szinkronszerepet kapott (The Pebble and the Penguin (1995), A Christmas Carol (1997), Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (1997) The Easter Story Keepers (1998) vagy éppen a Bartok the Magnificent (1999).

A kétezres években olyan musicalekben lépett fel, mint a klasszikus A Christmas Carol és a Spamalot - alakításáért megkapta a harmadik Tony-jelölését és hatalmas anyagi sikert hozott. 2007-ben Laurence Olivier Award-ra jelölték és elnyerte a legjobb színésznek járó Theatregoers' Choice Award-ot.
Két hollywoodi szuperprodukcióban is feltűnt: Charlie's Angels (2000) és Scary Movie 2 (2001), emellett számtalan filmben alakított mellék- és szinkronszerepet.
Általában mellékszerepeket kapott a televíziós sorozatokban - a jelentősebbek: Monk (2004), Will & Grace (2004) Psych (2007), Agatha Christie's Poirot (2008) Criminal Minds (2010).
Az elmúlt két évtizedben számtalan videójátékhoz és hangoskönyvhöz adta a hangját.

2011 nyarán a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead című darabban lépett fel, 2012 áprilisában pedig a ″What About Dick?″ című darabban aratott nagy sikert.

Az elmúlt években csupán szinkronszerepeket vállalt és nem jelent meg a nyilvánosság előtt.
2013-ban mutatták be a Gingerclown és a Saving Santa című filmjeit, 2014-ben pedig a Ribbit és a Axel: The Biggest Little Hero című alkotásokban, valamint az Over the Garden Walls című minisorozat egyik epizódjában hallhattuk a hangját.
2015-ben nem forgatott, de a következő évben, 2016-ban a The Rocky Horror Picture Show TV-film változatában játszott, egy kriminológus bőrébe bújva.
2017-ben a Long Drive Home egyik szereplőjének kölcsönözte a hangját. 
2018-ban egy szinkronszerep erejéig visszatért a Wonder Pets! sorozatába.
Jelenleg (2024) a készülő Dagon: Troll World Chronicles egyik szereplőjének kölcsönzi a hangját.
